The Return to Revelation
Hey guys! And, gals. ;P Sorry it's been a while (or... more like a long time) since I have done a post on Revelations. I decided to return to that today, because I have nothing I should be doing except finishing up Christmas presents. ;D Anyways. The last time, we stopped at Revelation 2 verse 12. I will pick up there in a minute. First, I wanted to mention something that was discussed in Sunday school today. You know how, when you're on the news, a lot of the time it's all about how this person was murdered, what the terrorist are doing, how this famous person broke up with this famous person, how this person took their life the other day, and so forth. Any one see how this is all the same? It's all about the bad things that happen in the world. And so, seeing these kinds of things on the news often leads to a very popular question that many un-believers ask. 'Why would a loving God allow these evil things to happen?' Well, there is an answer to that. God didn't allow them to happen. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. He created man and woman in His image. There was no sin. But then, man (meaning Eve) decided to listen to the sinful whispers of the devil, and by listening to the devil and not to Gods word, Adam and Eve strayed from His perfect word and caused sin to enter the world. And since then, man kind has been sinning. So now days, people still sin, and they wonder why God allows people to suffer. He doesn't. That's the whole reason He sent His Son Jesus. To die on a cross in your place, to offer you a way out of the sin, and give you eternal life, if you believe in Him. Here's John 3: 16-21. 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. ' See, there's what we were talking about. Picking up in verse 18. 'He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done by God.' Wow..... that was kind of harsh! O_O So, in plain and blunt speaking, God didn't come to the world to condemn it, but He sent His Son to save it. And men who love the darkness runs from the light. (God is the Light). So, now that I have told you that there is a way out of the darkness, let's move onto Revelation.
I last did a post on Revelation here: http://afamilyonafarm.blogspot.com/2017/05/revelation-2.html
You guys can read that to remember where we are if you want to.
Revelation 2:12 and following:
'And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write, "These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword: "I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight them with the sword of My mouth.
"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it." '
"And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write, 'These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass: "I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first. Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual morality and eat thing sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works. Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. But hold fast what you have till I come. And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations-
'He shall rule over them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels'-
as I also have received from My Father; and I will give him the morning star. "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." '
Well, that was long. Honestly, I have no idea how to recap that. I guess it was the Holy Spirit telling the angels of the churches of their works, and about the problems that they had that He was not pleased with. I wish I understood this better, but it's pretty confusing for me still. :/ I won't be able to post tomorrow because I will be working, but hopefully I'll get around to posting again soon. :) Have a great day you guys. :)
