Running the Race
Goodness! I haven't blogged on here in a while!
Well, today I was thinking about running the race. What race am I talking about? Well, it's this thing called 'life'. Heard of it before? I'm told it's pretty popular. ;P
Life is a race. 'Gotta get this thing done so I can move to this thing, and then this thing should help me get to this thing,' and so on. We're always racing to the next item or event in life.
One of my younger siblings is a busy body. He's always excited for something to come up, and he'll count down the days to the simplest of events. He's racing through the week from one thing to the next. Not saying that's bad, but as teens, older teens, and adults, we can get into a habit of doing it, and then never being satisfied with what we have at the moment. We should be running this race of life to glorify the God who put us here.
(I should probably mention, my younger sibling who does this is six. ;D)
I was going through my journal earlier, and noticed something interesting. I got that journal in 2017 for my birthday, and through it, you'll see so many different entries. There are days where I'm singing, and everything is beautiful, and days where darkness is creeping in, and I'm hurting on the inside.
Going through my journal of a year and a half, you can see the work that God has done in me, and the ways that I have dragged myself down. I've been running this race called life for seventeen years, and it has been a journey. It's a journey where we live to learn about Christ and His love for us. We learn how to live like Him, and how hard it is. We learn that there's no way we can do it on our own. We need Him to run along with us, and to hold us up when we're about to collapse.
What is our goal for running this race? What's at the finish line?
We run this race of life, because life is a gift that God has given us, and we need to be living our lives to glorify Him. And for the finish line? A glorious gift of eternal life is offered to us. If we take it, we have a place in the mansion that God has prepared for us. We are forgiven of all our sins, we are given grace, we are given life.
So, we run this thing called life, by Gods grace and love, towards eternal life with Jesus Christ our Lord.
"In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." ~ John 14:2
The Bontrager family singers have a song called "Running the Race". It's a really neat song. :)
