Prophecies

Hi! Welcome to day one of... my HOPE to be, Bible study. :) What I want to accomplish through this, is learning about prophecies, and how if the ones we talk about came true, then the ones in the Revelation of Jesus Christ will come true. So... basically, we will be studying Revelation.

First prophecy to discuss: The birth of Jesus Christ.

In Genesis 3:14-15, it says, 'So the Lord God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall cruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel." '

Well! What on EARTH does that have to do with the coming of Jesus Christ? O_O Let's find out. The Seed of the woman that it speaks of, refers to children. In Hebrews 11:17-19 it says, 'By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Issac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, "In Issac your seed shall be called," concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him as a figurative sense.' Okay, that was slightly confusing at the end, but if you think about it, it's pretty easy to figure out. If you don't know the story, it's in Genesis 21:1-13. 'Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." Then He said, "Take now your son, your only son Issac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you." So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Issac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you." So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Issac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. But Issac spoke to Abraham his father and said, "My father!" And he said, "Here I am, my son." The he said, "Look, the fire and wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" And Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a brunt offering." So the two of them went together. Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an alter there and placed wood in order; and he bound Issac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" So he said, "Here I am." And He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me." Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by it's horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.' Phew! Long story, but amazing! :) Anyway. That's the story of God asking Abraham to offer up his son as a sacrifice. So, what it's saying in Hebrews, I'll go over verse 17 and 18, 'By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Issac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, 'In Issac your seed shall be called," ' So, what it's talking about, is, Abraham offered up Issac, even though he was his only son, he still feared, honored, and trusted God. 'and he who received the promises offered up his only begotten son.' He who received the promises, which I think would be God, offered up His only begotten son to die on a cross in our place, and raise Him again on the third day. So, what does this have to do with the prophecy of Jesus' birth? Going back to Genesis 3:15, it says, 'And I will put enmity between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.' Her Seed, is Jesus Christ (eventually), and the serpent, is Satan. When it says, 'He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.' I think it means, that, when Satan bruises his heel, it's when Jesus is beaten, despised, rejected, and eventually, put to death, Satan is bruising His heel. But, when it says that 'He shall bruise your head,' I think it's talking about the day, when Jesus come's back, and casts Satan into the bottomless pit, and binds him for 1,000 years. He is bruising Satan's head.
So there we have the first prophecy of Jesus Christ. Genesis 3:15.

I could be wrong about this, but that's the way I see it. I'll talk with someone who knows more than me, and see what they think. And if I made any mistakes, I'll be back to fix them tomorrow. I hope this wasn't to confusing, and I really hope that maybe someone learned something new from this. Have a good rest of the day you guys. Keep praising God. :)
